USING AN IMAGE AS A BACKGROUND

LESSON #5

Got your webpage open in AOLPRESS?

Okay you have a webpage with text, maybe colored text a headline etc. But it has a solid color background doesn't it? Let's spice it up a bit with an image for a background.

Copy the image below and save it in the same folder/directory as your webpage.
To copy this image position your cursor over it and right click your mouse button. Select SAVE PICTURE AS and call it TILE.JPG be sure though to save it on your hard drive in the same directory as the htm file you are working on.

Got it saved?

Okay now click the button:

That should produce the dialogue box below:

Remember that box? It's the one you used to make you page background a different color. This time though click the Browse... button right out from the work image.

Search around in your files until you find TILE.JPG and click on it then click on OK. The above box should now display:

Click OK again and see what happened to your page!

Did it work? Do you now have a background made up or ornate scrollwork? Cool if you do, but if you don't something went wrong in the way you saved the image above. Start back and do it again.

But hat is all there is to using an image as the background of your page. We include a bunch of images that you can save and use on your websites, But you can also find them all over the Internet. Google this search term include the quotes:

"seemless tiles" "background graphic"

Don't forget to save your webpage...
File > Save As > Make sure location is right and then click the button.
